The MasToc an uncombed building
- categorie Art/public space
By a powerful meteorological, seismic or poetical action, this sculpture/building turned inside out like a glove threw out all around the rocks which were constituting its walls. According to the histories, anecdotes, sensations, attitudes and materials of everyday life, the MasToc and the field of the 100 boulders took shape. This artwork consists in building a coherent universe conjugating multiples aesthetics who at each time are the proposals of distinctive, domestic and personal poetics, co-realized by an inhabitant and the artistic group. The sculpture/building is a poetical vision of the neighbouring high rise buildings: An upheaval of buildings where the overcharge of energies, the imaginaries, the souvenirs, the extravagancies embedded in the apartments gush out of the windows, the doors and from the roof and tangled by the mistral wind. Within the program Creative Neighborhoods Marseille Provence 2013, European Capital of the Culture, it is an aesthetic adventure, a colorful explosion in open air, and as a starting point the poetic jubilations of the inhabitants and their lifestyle which saw the day after two years of a half-time artists residency program in the neighborhood.
The MasToc and it’s uncombed building is both an installation of the artistic group Les Pas Perdus and a work in shared creation with inhabitants from Arles and of the neighborhood Griffeuille / Mouleyres.
