Art with inhabitant
« Les Pas Perdus » are engaged in a multidisciplinary field combining high-tech and inspired homegrown practice. They evolve in the reaches of visual arts (installations, digital imaging, films), sound creation (multi-media, electronic musical device), scenography and performing art. On the initiative of Guy-Andre Lagesse together with invited artists, “Les Pas Perdus» currently coordinate several artistic actions: international art projects in public space, participative actions, multi-media and publishing programs. The aim of these collective actions are to privilege the innovating and prospective role of Art.
« Les Pas Perdus propose a collective artwork which puts up front individual and singular artistic commitments by making the hypothesis that we are never alone in inventing what we do and that art exists only filled by the works of others. It is a tribute to the « others » who exist in us, that is to say the different parts coming from others that shapes what we are. ” Occasional of art ” or again DIYs’ inspired by the ordinary and whim, the inhabitants with whom we work, make us experiment a delicate and refined field: the extravagance of the modest in their practice of elegance with « things » of little. There, as artists, we find ourselves in sync with their audaciousness and engage with them aesthetic combinations taken from the practice of everyday life. It is about leaning on the functional to decline poetics, to create a gymnastic of thoughts to bring to the foreground creative overflow. » Guy-Andre Lagesse
Les Pas Perdus cooking for the eyes with leftovers of the world.
«Les Pas Perdus» reconsider popular artistic practices as a condition to contemporary art. They create a space of recognition and stimulation of creativity between asserted artists and inventors/artists from popular sphere. Through this framework, they invent together a singular way of wending through a world where everything seems to be imposed. In the form of tribute, these collaborations become for one another an essential means of questioning their own practice.
Les Pas Perdus proposent installations and visual artworks interlock with a creative journey through the fourniture > the house > the district > the city, mixed with popular aesthetic practices. Always happy to re-use leftovers, Guy-André Lagesse with Nicolas Barthélemy and Jérôme Rigaut have established over time a strong and dynamic relationship with « inventors of the everyday life ». The Apartment Tunning, the Furnished Circuits, The Pathway in the Garden of Home-made Wishes, The Mastoc – windswept building offer the possibility to work with the audacity and ardour spirit of its inhabitants/enthusiast handyman, poets … who become for the occasion “Occasionals of art” .
